Blog Hop – Question of the Week

by J.J. DiBenedetto

The Blog Hop is a weekly event hosted by Ramblings of a Coffee-Addicted Writer.  Every week there’s a question, and, logically enough, you answer it.  This week’s question is:

What was the last book you re-read? Or name a book you would like to re-read.

For me, the answer is “Winter’s Tale” by Mark Helprin.  I reread it once a year.  It’s both my favorite novel, and also the best novel I’ve ever read (those two things don’t necessarily have to be the same thing).  The prose is breathtakingly beautiful, the characters are instantly memorable, and the sprawling time-jumping story is amazing.  I can’t possibly recommend the book highly enough.

  1. I have this novel, and started it once, some time ago. Not sure why I didn´t continue…you´re absolutely right about the prose. It IS breathtakingly beautiful! I really have to get into this book! I have the first edition hardcover, which I got on eBay. It shows a white horse flying over the city of New York, and the background is blue. GORGEOUS!! You have persuaded me to back and try again! Thanks!!
